M&T Bank Stadium was filled to capacity today as fans attempted to get inside to thank their team.
Fans who arrived late had to be turned away.
Retiring star linebacker Ray Lewis emerged from the tunnel, handed off the Lombardi trophy, and did his signature “squirrel dance.”
Safety Ed Reed told fans that quarterback Joe Flacco was already talking about a repeat Super Bowl win. Reed also sang a rendition of Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise.”
Coach John Harbaugh acknowledged the importance of the Ravens fans and said “this whole stadium is packed with the Baltimore Ravens team together.”
Traffic was gridlocked as fans tried to make their way downtown as I-83, I-95, and the Baltimore beltway became parking lots. There were reports of some fans even abandoning their vehicles so they could make it to the stadium in time for today’s festivities.
Baltimore City Police say that due to the fact that the beginning of the parade was delayed, the downtown evening rush hour traffic may be impacted.
