A mother from Annapolis could be hit with either the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted of killing her 2-year-old daughter.
Police arrested Chelsea Booth, 25, on Thursday and charged her with first- and second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death, according to WJZ.
First degree murder carries the death penalty. Booth is also now looking at up to 30 years in prison for the second-degree murder charge and 40 years in prison for the charge of first-degree child abuse resulting in death.
A concerned citizen phoned the Annapolis Police Department on Wednesday about 2-year-old Kassidey Capri Booth, whom the citizen hadn’t seen in several days.
Detectives now say the mom killed Kassidey earlier this week and disposed of her dead body.
She is currently being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
Officers are still investigating the case.
