Joe Saunders Former Orioles Pitcher Joe Saunders Signs with MarinersThe Seattle Mariners have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with former Orioles lefty Joe Saunders.  The contract is said to be worth between $5-7 million, with an option in 2014, according to USA Today Sports.

The deal is pending the results of a physical.

Saunders was a major contributor in the Baltimore Orioles’ playoff run last season after he had been traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 26th.

The Mariners were looking to replace LHP Jason Vargas, who was traded to the Los Angeles Angels back in December.

Over seven starts last season, Saunders notched a 3.63 ERA and allowed just two earned runs over 11 1/3 innings in two postseason starts.

He recorded the win in the O’s biggest game of the season, the AL wild-card game in which they defeated the Texas Rangers.
