Police said 24-year-old Anthony Farris, an inclusion helper at Bel Air High School, stands accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student over the course of four months – from September to December of 2012.
The inappropriate activity allegedly occurred in one of the offices at the school.
Farris was arrested on Friday afternoon at the Board of Education offices and charged with sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense, and perverted practice.
Investigators said he had been working there as an inclusion helper since August 2010. An inclusion helper is typically a type of teachers’ aide who works with special education students.
A school system representative told WBAL-TV that Farris had been placed on administrative leave on January 25 and that, as of the day of his arrest, he was “no longer an employee of Harford County Public Schools.”
Farris has since been released on $50,000 bail.
