Dive teams with the Maryland State Police are scouring the Chesapeake Bay at this hour for Robin Pope, a woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Pope, 51, of Stevensville, has not been seen since early Saturday morning. She’s a white female, 5’4″, 105 lbs., with brown hair.
Pope had been living with her husband, Wayne A. Pope Jr., until they separated in December 2012. Since that time, Robin Pope has been staying with a female friend on Kent Island.
Wayne Pope reportedly told authorities that his wife came home late on Friday to pick up some belongings. He says he left the house, but wen he returned early Saturday, he found his wife’s black 2011 Inifiniti in the driveway, but she was nowhere to be found. The couple’s Great Dane had also vanished.
Pope phoned Queen Anne’s County Police, and when they arrived, they found Robin Pope’s keys, credit cards, purse, and cash still in her vehicle.
Police found the dog dead near a neighbor’s pier, showing obvious signs of trauma.
The Maryland State Police dive team will be conducting a search of the Chesapeake Bay near the Pope residence in search of clues.
