The Baltimore Ravens actually managed to gain a player this week, signing defensive lineman Chris Canty.
Canty, 30, who has spent the past four years playing for the New York Giants, chose Baltimore over several other teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. Canty’s deal is reportedly for $8 million over three years.
The lineman seems excited about the deal, as he tweeted a picture of his signed contract just moments after putting pen to paper.
Canty, who is well-known for his wild facemask, is entering his ninth year in the NFL. He spent 2005-2009 with the Dallas Cowboys, where he started every game from 2006-2008.
In 2009, Canty signed a six-year, $42 million deal with the Giants. He started every game in 2010 and 2011 before playing in just nine games last season due to knee surgery in the off-season.
It’s interesting to note that the Green Bay Packers also reportedly showed interest in Canty, but team doctors wouldn’t clear him.
Canty underwent knee surgery in February of 2012, then suffered an MCL sprain in December.
The ink is dry. It’s official!!! instagr.am/p/WxpIM7wBnU/
