Baltimore County police are on the scene of a barricade situation in a business located in the 7600 block of Canton Center Drive.
The call was dispatched at 2:28 p.m. EDT.
UPDATE: THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED
The Baltimore County Police Department‘s tactical team is responding at this hour.
Preliminary information indicates that a male suspect is holding a hostage.
Nearby Colgate Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but everyone was able to leave the premises safely.
The incident apparently began with a stabbing at a nearby Kmart store.
The suspect fled from that store and headed to the nearby Colgate neighborhood. Once there, he tossed a rock through the front window of a residence located in the 7700 block of Eastdale Road. He then gained entry to the home, which was unoccupied at the time.
The suspect then exited via the back door and headed to the beer distribution company located in the 7600 block of Canton Center Drive. He then refused to leave.
As of 6:30 p.m. EDT, the male suspect was still holed up inside the plant. Reports indicate that he has been in contact with negotiators. He is believed to be armed.
