Now, word is spreading that Ed Reed is scheduled to meet with the Houston Texans on Thursday, and word on the street is that the Ravens may not want him back.
Why not? It all stems from that so-called mutiny that broke out last fall when coach John Harbaugh informed players that they would be practicing in full pads.
Practicing in full pads didn’t sit very well with several players, including Reed and Pollard, and several of them openly challenged Harbaugh’s decision
“It was practically a mutiny,” one Ravens player recalled. “It came very close to getting out of control. But the way Coach Harbaugh handled it was amazing. He let people have their say, and he listened, and he explained himself, and pretty soon it was like a big group-therapy session. In the end, a lot of positive things were said. We didn’t practice in pads, but we came out of there stronger as a group.”
The bottom line, though, is that Silver portrayed Reed and Pollard as instigators of the “mutiny.” ProFootballTalk now says that’s the main reason the organization might be willing to part ways with both of them.
At this point, Ravens’ fans may have no other choice but to close their eyes and keep chanting, “In Oz we trust.”
