At about 6:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, police and fire units responded to a crash at Route 40 and Martin Boulevard. Crash investigators determined that a 2013 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on Pulaski Highway at a high rate of speed and drove onto the raised concrete median.
The vehicle struck a sign post on the median and then struck the support pillar to the bridge overpass for Martin Boulevard. The vehicle then flipped onto its roof and slid.
Passengers Emil Antonio Ledesma Vargas, 29, and Josseline Rico-Hernandez, 25, both of Middle River, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Jorge A. Estrada Hernandez, 22, of Glen Burnie, was taken to Shock Trauma.
Citations for alcohol-related traffic offenses were issued to the driver. Speed is also believed to be a factor.
A third passenger, a 25-year-old male, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
