atm Montgomery County thieves try to steal ATM with backhoeMontgomery County Police are trying to track down those responsible for trying to steal an ATM machine from a Potomac-area bank using a backhoe.

Authorities say the thieves in question attempted to remove the machine from the Bank of America located in the 10000 block of Falls Road at about 2 a.m. ET on Tuesday.

The thieves reportedly tried to wrap a steel chain around the machine and remove it from the bank branch with a stolen backhoe.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows three suspects trying to remove the ATM from an exterior wall and place it onto the bed of a pickup truck.

The thieves fled the scene once police arrived on the scene.

No money was stolen but authorities say the machine was damaged.
