Speed and alcohol likely factors in fatal Harford County crash

Traffic Accident Speed and alcohol likely factors in fatal Harford County crashMaryland State Police believe speed and alcohol played a part in a fatal accident in Harford County overnight.

The crash took place shortly after midnight along Dublin Road, east of Wilson Road, in Street.

Officers there responded to a single-car collision.

Upon arriving at the scene, trooped found a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that had gone off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, who was killed in the crash, has been identified as Charles Garland Jr., of Whiteford.

Garland was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the truck seems to have entered a curve at excessive speeds and the driver was unable to safely negotiate the turn.

The investigation is ongoing.
