Elderly pedestrian struck in Parkville dies

Pedestrian Crosswalk Elderly pedestrian struck in Parkville diesOne of the two senior citizens who were struck by a vehicle in Parkville over the weekend has died.

At about 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night, police and fire personnel were summoned to the intersection of Putty Hill Avenue and Harford Road for a report of a pedestrian struck.

Sharon Marie Bialek, 67, and Robert Bialek, 71, of the 3400 block of Moravia Road, were crossing Putty Hill Avenue in a crosswalk when they were hit by a 2004 Toyota Tacoma turning onto Putty Hill Avenue from Harford Road.

The 59-year-old driver remained at the scene.

Both seniors were taken to Shock Trauma for treatment of their injuries.

At about 2:15 a.m. Monday morning, Sharon Bialek died at Shock Trauma.

The crash remains is still under investigation at this hour.

Thus far, no citations have been issued.

All fatal crashes are forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
