Ravens to visit White House on Wednesday

White House1 Ravens to visit White House on WednesdayThe Baltimore Ravens will get to celebrate their world championship one more time next week.

The team will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday, June 5th.

The president has a long-standing tradition of welcoming sports champs to the White House.

Head coach John Harbaugh and team General Manager Ozzie Newsome received a phone call from President Obama two days after beating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

“I just want to say congratulations,” Obama said at the time. “I know it was a bumpy season up and down. For you guys to stay steady the way you did is really a great feat.”

Obama also mentioned that he was touched by the story of former player O.J. Brigance, who has been battling ALS.

The Ravens made a previous trip to the White House back in 2001 after winning Super Bowl XXXV, and presented then-President George W. Bush with a signed football and jersey with the letter “W” on the back.

Video of next week’s event will be live-streamed at BaltimoreRavens.com and on the official Ravens mobile app.
