Cynthia Mills  Maryland woman sentenced to 18 months in murder for hire plotThe mistress of an Annapolis man who attempted to hire a hit man to murder his wife has been handed an 18-month prison sentence for her role in the twisted scheme.

Cynthia Mills entered an Alford plea to conspiracy to commit murder charges, maintaining that she was innocent while acknowledging that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict her of the charges.

Mills was implicated when her lover, Wendell Mansel, was taken into custody in Leesburg, Virginia, in August, after trying to enlist an undercover police officer posing as a hit man to kill his spouse.

Investigators later uncovered the fact that Mills and Mansel were having an extramarital affair.

Mills reportedly provided some of the money and assisted in planning the murder plot.

Mansel has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced on September 4th.
