Frederick Towne Mall Horror movie director wants to shoot film in abandoned Frederick mallA horror film director would like to shoot a movie at an abandoned mall in Frederick.

Director Eduardo Sanchez put Burkittsville on the map with “The Blair Witch Project” back in 1999.

No he says he’s developing a screenplay set in old abandoned Frederick Towne Mall.

Cal Glorioso, director of the Frederick Film Office, is attempting to negotiate a deal between Sanchez and Rockwood Capital, the property’s current owner.

Wal-Mart reportedly has its eye on the property, and the mall could soon be torn down.

Sanchez believes that the empty mall is part of Frederick’s history, and thinks it would be a shame not to use it before it’s razed.

He says he would only need a few weeks to shoot the film.
