UPDATE: Authorities confirm that Hernandez has been charged with murder and five gun-related charges.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Original story below…
Aaron Hernandez was arrested on Wednesday morning, one week after an acquaintance of the New England Patriots tight end was found dead.
Shortly after his arrest, Hernandez was released by the Patriots.
The Massachusetts State Police said that the charges against him wouldn’t be made public until his arraignment on Wednesday.
Hernandez is at the center of a probe surrounding shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.
Police officers searched Hernandez’s home for more than 3 hours Saturday.
Surveillance video from the neighborhood shows Hernandez with Lloyd and two other people hours before Lloyd was killed last week.
The Patriots drafted Hernandez out of the University of Florida in 2010. Last year, the organization signed him to a five-year, $40 million contract.
