The Orioles’ top pitching prospect will undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday morning.
The decision came after a follow-up visit with Dr. James Andrews.
At the beginning of this season, Bundy was considered by many to be baseball’s top pitching prospect.
The recovery time for Tommy John surgery is about a year.
The right-handed pitcher from Oklahoma, the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft, had been at the top of the O’s list of prospects until he injured his elbow this spring.
He had experienced repeated setbacks in trying to recover from the injury.
