On Tuesday night, firefighters were summoned to the 36th Street home and, upon arrival, found flames coming from the third floor.
They also received reports that a person was still inside the residence.
The man was found on the top floor and was unconscious and suffering from severe burns.
Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
Two other residents heard the smoke alarm and were able to escape the home without injury.
One firefighter sustained second-degree burns to his upper body and another injured his knee. Both were treated and released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this hour.
