Ray Lewis won’t be climbing the mountain.
Lewis was unable to participate in a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro due to foot swelling and a fever.
“Foot pain grew worse after yesterday’s hearing mission. The team goes on; I will serve otherwise4 #cleanwater,” Lewis tweeted Thursday.
The Baltimore Ravens legend is in Tanzania to raise awareness about the need for clean water in East Africa.
“Ray stood all day yesterday doing a hearing mission,” said trip organizer Frank Gamble. “Last night he had a bad night, fevered and really rough. So, this morning when he woke up the foot was killing him, years of injuries and all of that. So, we’re going to miss him.”
The TackleKili organization praised Lewis for donating his time and money to the cause.
