Hit and Run Cecil County death ruled a hit and runAfter completion of an autopsy and with the help of an ongoing investigation, Maryland State Police say the injuries sustained by a Harford County man found dead along Route 1 last Friday are consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The death has been classified as a hit-and-run.

It has been determined that the injuries sustained by Mark Grubbs, of Pylesville, were sustained after being struck by a vehicle in the area of Sweeny’s Bar, located in the 100 block of Conowingo Road, on July 5, 2013.

At about 2:40 a.m. ET that morning, troopers responded to calls for a male lying in the roadway. That male was later identified as Grubbs and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating to determine what exactly occurred. Investigators currently do not have any vehicle description involved in the hit-and-run.

Investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have been in the area of Sweeny’s Bar that night. Anyone with information is urged to contact Senior Trooper Vogt at 410-996-7800. Callers may remain confidential.

The investigation is ongoing.
