Authorities in Frederick County are urging caution among residents there after a man was bitten by a rabid fox near Thurmont on Thursday.
The county animal control office reported on Thursday that the man was bitten on July 4 as he was mowing his lawn.
The fox tested positive for rabies, according to the Frederick County Health Department.
A second fox that started fighting with a pack of dogs in Thurmont on July 8 also tested positive for rabies.
That makes 26 animals from Frederick County that have tested positive so far in 2013.
Authorities say people who happen to witness animals behaving strangely should avoid contact and call Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
