In the first fire, crews responded at about 3 p.m. ET to the 300 block of Forest Beach Road in Annapolis. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a one-story home. The blaze was brought under control by about sixty firefighters around 3:30 p.m. No one was home at the time of the fire. The blaze caused about $50,000 in total damage.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center. Two adults and three children were displaced by the fire.
The second blaze broke out around 4 p.m. when units responded to the Ashley Apartments located in the 200 block of Red Clay Road in Maryland City. A total of 67 firefighters needed about 45 minutes to bring the flames under control.
One occupant was removed from an upper apartment. The fire was contained to one unit caused $75,000 in damage. Two adults and a child were displaced.
