Police in Baltimore County are investigating after an officer shot a man who was wielding a knife in Cockeysville on Saturday night.

At 9:33 p.m. ET, Baltimore County Police responded to a residence in the 10100 Block of Daventry Drive for a report of an assault in progress.

The caller reported that there was a man there threatening people with a knife.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found an adult male in the garage with a knife.

When the male refused to drop the knife, an officer opened fire, striking him at least once.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown at this time.

The officer involved will be placed on administrative duty while the incident is reviewed.
