A judge on Wednesday denied a request to have bond revokes for a Maryland politician who had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in August while awaiting sentencing on an unrelated drunken boating conviction.
Judge Emory Plitt denied a request from the prosecutor in the case to revoke Del. Don Dwyer’s bail.
Assistant State’s Attorney Claude de Vastey-Jones called Dwyer “a public safety risk.”
Plitt, though, denied the state’s request, saying that Dwyer has not been convicted of the August charge. He had been out on bond when he was taken into custody.
Dwyer is awaiting sentencing on a separate charge after pleading guilty to drunken boating in 2012.
