A record number of passengers passed through BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport for the third straight year, according to a new report.
New figures released this month show that BWI is inching ahead of other regional airports like Washington Dulles and Reagan National.
“Travelers in this region are fortunate,” said BWI spokesman Jonathan Dean, according to WJZ.
In addition to the regional airports, BWI’s ranking is moving up among other airports nationwide.
“As of 2012, it moved up one space in the rankings,” Dean said.
Airport officials add that, at this point, the only thing that could slow its growth are federal budget cuts.
The airport is expecting to feel some of the effects of sequestration.
