Traffic Accident1 Driver dies after having heart attack, hitting dumpsterGLEN BURNIE – A man is dead after having a heart attack behind the wheel and hitting a dumpster.

At about 8:15 p.m. ET on Friday night, officers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a dumpster located at 6914 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

Upon arrival the driver of the vehicle, identified as Clifton Taylor Kimes, of Pasadena, was found to be in full cardiac arrest.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Kimes’ minivan had been traveling south on Crain Highway near Furnace Branch Road when the vehicle crossed over the center line into the northbound travel lanes.

The van swerved to avoid a northbound vehicle and left the roadway, striking two signs then a dumpster located behind the Wendy’s at 6914 Ritchie Highway.

The evidence suggests that the driver may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash that caused his death.

The investigation is continuing at this time. Neither speed nor alcohol seem to have been a factor in the crash.
