KK Festival of Trees 2013 Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees details announcedBALTIMORE – It’s time for the holidays to begin when Festival of Trees returns to the Maryland State Fairgrounds and transforms into a winter wonderland for three days, Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1. The largest seasonal festival on the East Coast, Kennedy Krieger’s annual fundraiser will feature more than 600 decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses, as well as family-friendly activities and entertainment.

Highlights of the 2013 Festival of Trees include:

· Trees for Homes in All Shapes and Sizes

Hundreds of 7-foot, 4-foot and 2-foot decorated trees will be available for purchase and come in a variety of shapes and designs, making them the perfect holiday decoration for any home.

· Gather ‘Round for a Holiday Story Reading

“Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house…” Snuggle up with family and friends to enjoy holiday favorites read by local celebrities.

Saturday, November 30th – Paul Rabil, Major League Lacrosse Most Valuable Player and Team USA midfielder, will read his favorite holiday story.

· Dance the Day Away with Grammy-Nominated Music Group Milkshake

The critically acclaimed children’s rock band Milkshake will perform twice on Friday, November 29th at 11am and 4pm. With authentic rock ‘n’ roll spirit and kid-friendly fun, the performances will feature all of the group’s hit songs.

· Shop ‘Til You Drop

With more than 100 gift boutiques to choose from, shoppers can check friends and family members off of their holiday shopping list. From local teams’ sportswear and home décor to jewelry and clothing, there is something for everyone. You can also bid on one-of-a-kind experiences at the silent auction.

· Explore Santa’s Ultimate Theme Park

SantaLand is a bustling fun zone with holiday-themed activities for families. Kids from ages 1 to 92 will enjoy a Harry Potter castle, decorating gingerbread cookies, carnival games, “reindeer” pony rides, a remote control racetrack, a carousel, crafts and more. Little ones can also meet the big man in red and send their wish lists directly to the North Pole at the Santa Letter Writing Station.

Attendees and Institute supporters can start their own online Happy Holidays FUNdraising page to raise money for Kennedy Krieger. For every $10 raised to support the children and families of the Institute, supporters will receive one free ticket to Festival of Trees.

The raffle at this year’s Festival of Trees features a Disney vacation including airfare and hotel accommodations! Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 at the event or online at www.festivaloftrees.kennedykrieger.org.

General Admission to Festival of Trees 2013 is $13 for adults and $7 for children ages 5-12 and seniors. Children 4 and under are free. To purchase discounted tickets in advance or learn how to earn free tickets, visit www.festivaloftrees.kennedykrieger.org
