BALTIMORE – A new tradition will be coming to Baltimore this year in the form of an authentic German Christmas market.
Christmas Village in Baltimore will be an outdoor holiday market at the Inner Harbor.
The outdoor area around the Walter Sondheim Fountain will bring the original Christmas Village charm with its traditional German style wooden huts to Baltimore. In addition, a large festival tent will create a Christmassy shopping atmosphere with more vendors, a Food Court and an event space.
A total of 60 booths will be selling traditional treats, drink, and gifts.
Kathe Wohlfahrt, the famous German specialist for Christmas ornaments from Rothenburg ob der Tauber will contribute to a festive atmosphere at Christmas Village in Baltimore. In a spacious sales area of the heated festival tent Kathe Wohlfahrt will present a world of beautiful handcrafted Christmas ornaments and collectibles.
Christmas Village in Baltimore is modeled after traditional German Christmas Markets. The most famous of which, is the Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg, Germany. The goods presented in timber booths include a rich variety of food and holiday items. At the market, you will find Christmas ornaments, arts and crafts, toys, sweets, and hot food and drinks. This is an event at which people can stroll around, meet friends, and enjoy live performances of Christmas music.
The market is located at West Shore Park and opens on Thanksgiving Day (November 28th). It will remain open until Christmas Eve.
