Pedestrian critical after being struck in Howard County

Pedestrian Pedestrian critical after being struck in Howard CountyCOLUMBIA – A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck in Howard County.

Police say the crash happened at about 5 p.m. ET on Friday evening, when a 2004 Honda Civic was traveling west on Cradlerock Way at Dockside Lane and hit a pedestrian. The driver remained on the scene.

The pedestrian has been identified as Yechao Qian, 79, of Columbia. Qian was transported to Shock Trauma and is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Kelly Lynn Weir, 47, also of Columbia. Weir was not injured in the collision.

The cause of the collision is being investigated at this time. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call police.

Cradlerock Way at the Owen Brown Village Center was closed to until about 7 p.m. so the crash could be investigated.
