 Woman arrested after trying to rob BP station, assaulting officersLOTHIAN – An Edgewater woman is in police custody after attempting to rob an Anne Arundel County BP station on Friday.

At about 8:30 a.m. ET on Friday, officers responded to the BP gas station at 5423 Southern Maryland Boulevard in Lothian for an attempted robbery.

Upon arriving at the scene, police learned that a white female wearing a green sweatshirt and sunglasses attempted to rob the business using a note. The suspect then left the business without obtaining any cash.

The two employees working at the time of the incident were not injured.

A customer arriving at the station saw the suspect getting into a red Chevrolet Cavalier and obtained a license plate number, which was relayed to responding officers.

Sherry L. Hunt, 29, of Edgewater, was later located and arrested.

On her way to booking, she became violent and assaulted an officer and several detectives. One Detective was bitten by Hunt.

She has been charged with attempted robbery as well as assault.
