Rebecca Pearce Maryland Health Benefit Exchange director resignsBALTIMORE; 11:12 a.m. ET – The Board of Directors for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange announced on Friday that its Executive Director, Rebecca Pearce, will resign.

Board Chairman Joshua M. Sharfstien issued the following statement to the media:

“The Board of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange has accepted the resignation of executive director Rebecca Pearce. Ms. Pearce worked tirelessly and with tremendous dedication to build Maryland Health Connection over more than two years. The Board thanks her for her service and wishes her well in the future. The Board has named Carolyn Quattrocki to serve as interim executive director of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.”

Pearce’s resignation comes amid questions and controversy surrounding a Caribbean vacation she took while the online marketplace was plagued with problems.
