Just before 5 p.m. on Friday night, fire crews responded to the 200 block of Magothy Beach Road for a reported dwelling fire. Prior to units arriving at the scene, the dispatch center started to receive multiple calls reporting visible fire and upgraded the assignment, sending about 40 firefighters to the scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a 1.5-story, single family dwelling with smoke and showing from the first and second floors. The residence was under renovation and the fire originated in the living room area. The cause of the fire is undetermined, and is under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal’s Office. Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $45,000. No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, fire crews responded to the 2000 block of Eastway in Glen Burnie for a reported dwelling fire. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a single family dwelling with heavy smoke coming from the front of the dwelling and fire in the rear of the structure. The fire took 40 personnel approximately 30 minutes to bring under control.
This fire caused about $50,000 in damage to the structure and contents. No one was home at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire. The origin and cause are being investigated by the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal’s Office.
