Marquita Sutton Suspicious death turns into homicide investigation in LaurelLAUREL; 4:45 p.m. ET – What began as a suspicious death investigation in Anne Arundel County has turned into a homicide case.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to the 8300 block of Frostwood Road in Laurel to check on the well being of the occupants.

At the scene, police found a deceased male inside the residence. The male has since been identified as Johnnie Sutton III, 38, a member of the U.S. Army.

Sutton suffered from several stab wounds and his death has been ruled a homicide.

During the investigation, evidence was gathered leading detectives to charge his wife, Marquita Berry-Sutton, 30, with murder.  Mrs. Sutton turned herself in on Saturday.

She has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

The couple has a 21-month-old child, who was home at the time of the incident but was not harmed. The child is now in the custody of relatives.
