Ravens Prepare for Super Bowl, Add Juan Castillo to Coaching Staff

In just over one week, the Baltimore Ravens will be in the biggest dance of them all, as the team prepares to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

The team had one final practice in Owings Mills today before heading off to New Orleans for the big game.

“We’re right where we want to be,” said wide receiver Torrey Smith, according to ESPN.com. “Now we have an opportunity to play in the big one. But at the end of the day, we’re still getting ready for a football game.”

Except this is the biggest football game of them all…one where the stakes have never been higher for many of the players on this year’s team.

“We’ve had a great week. We had an excellent practice,” said coach John Harbaugh after today’s practice. “The guys are very sharp and they’re excited. We’ll have to go down there and do just as well (or) do better.”

The Ravens weren’t content with the status quo just because they’re heading to the Super Bowl.

Shortly after last week’s victory over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, the team added Juan Castillo to their coaching staff. The former defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles defensive will be a permanent part of the team’s coaching staff as the running game coordinator next season, according to Baltimore Beatdown.

Castillo has plenty of history with coach Harbaugh, having spent 10 years with him in Philadephia. He had received better offers from other teams, but turned them down in favor of the Ravens.
