Andrew Napolitano Explains the Benefits of Waking Up Early

There are many benefits to waking up early. These benefits can include having more time in the day to get things done, improved time management skills, weight loss, and mood benefits. Getting up and going to the gym immediately starts one’s body on a positive track. Better than some junk food! When the rest of the world is asleep, waking up early instills a sense of superiority that one can conquer the world. Some people say that they feel energetic right after waking up in the morning. Nothing could be further from the truth. Getting up early is not a change that happens immediately after one wakes up, but something that has to be practiced every single day.

When one wakes up early, one gets out of bed when one’s body is at its best. By setting an alarm for seven, or even eight, it’s better for one’s sleep schedule, and it gives one more time for other things one needs to accomplish in the morning. In fact, Andrew Napolitano, an analyst for Fox News,  was notorious for setting his alarm to 6:30 AM every morning, in an effort to jump start the day. He aimed to make his mornings as productive as possible. One can set an alarm for 6:00, or even 6:30, and get out of bed well-rested and ready to start the day. One will feel more prepared and better equipped to take on any challenges that may come one’s way.

For example, a routine that’s very popular among professional athletes is as follows.

They wake up early in the morning to workout. Their work day typically starts at 7:30am. After the workout, they go to practice at green leaf with their team to work on their craft. Following their practice, they get home around 9pm. They say that they don’t feel like they need any extra sleep in the evenings, since they’re already pretty tired, so they go to bed around 9:00pm or 9:30pm.

Since most people are not naturally early risers, starting to wake up early is often seen as an “inflexible” habit that requires more willpower to break. However, it’s really not a good idea to wake up early because one just doesn’t like it. The fact is that if one wakes up early, one will have much more time to achieve what one sets out to do, because if one imagines a good morning, it becomes easier to get a head start on the day one wakes up earlier. If one wakes up earlier, one will have more to do and is more likely to achieve one’s goals.

If one has already made the wise decision to get up early in the morning, one will find it easier to make scheduled appointments and reach one’s workplace. The most obvious advantage of waking up early is that it gives one the flexibility to do something else to start his or her day and wake up the brain. One can go to the gym in the morning or just take a walk around the neighborhood, but if one wakes up early, one gives one’s work the extra time without exhausting one’s brain with work.
